As an industry leader, one of the best ways we can demonstrate our commitment to the environment is to reduce the impacts associated with electricity consumption. Starting in 2016, we have sourced the equivalent volume of renewable electricity for each European office, through the purchase of Guarantees of Origin (GOs) and Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs) in the UK.
Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland (including HQ) and the UK: each Eden office is now powered by electricity coming from renewable sources.
What are GOs and REGOs?
Each GO represents 1 Megawatt hour (MWh) of renewable electricity generated. REGOs are the same as GOs, but instead of being generated and consumed in Europe, REGOs represent renewable electricity generated in the UK.
As the European electricity grid consists of both renewable and non-renewable electricity generation, the electricity is mixed before reaching end users. By tracking the electricity from its point of generation to its points of consumption, GOs and REGOs certify that Eden Springs’ offices are consuming only the renewable portion of the electricity generated.
This is a EU regulated programme, under a legistlative directive, and is recognised as the highest quality method of reporting renewable electricity consumption.
Natural Capital Partners, a leading provider of solutions for positive environmental impact – and its assessment partner, Quantis, have measured the energy consumption of our offices and warehouses across Europe.
